From the hotel room on the 4th floor, I can see the ice rink and the brightly lit trees, heralding the arrival of winter. This time I have a corner room, which means one more window, two more pieces of furniture and a corner area which can comfortably sleep 3 refugees. Two of the windows look directly onto the office block next door and this allows me to monitor the health of the yucca plants in that office.
Tonight I watched the young folk skating with abandon at the ice rink. It seemed so much fun and I wondered if I would find my feet (sic) if I had a go. There were two young couples, the blind leading the blind, hanging onto the railings, inching along as if they were walking on a tight rope. That would be me, I thought...
