Joshua Tree National Park

Most of us have heard of Yellowstone, Yosemite, but few of us who live outside of the USA know of Joshua Tree National Park.  The western half of the park, at elevations above 3,000 feet, is the Mojave Desert habitat.  Amid the spectacular rock formations are prickly pear cactus, scrub oak, and the truly unique Joshua trees. The eastern half of the park lies within the Colorado Desert, in stark contrast, is mostly covered by screes and short, stunted shrubs.
